FOF Chapter Anger 6.1

A high god's caliber was certainly different, with just a few pointers, Ah Lian was able to successfully attend Sir Chong Xu's class without incident the next day.  However, despite passing the  test, she was someone that Sir Chong Xu would not pay any attention to as her foundation was still lacking. Sir Chong Xu did not say anything and continued with the day's lesson.

When Sir Chong Xu was not looking, Tian Luo whispered, "You had me worried for a moment. I thought that you would get lectured again today."

Tian Luo had always slept like a log, oblivious to the world around her once she entered dreamland. So she did not know that Ah Lian went out in the middle of the night to practice, and even had a chance meeting with high god Rong Lin.

Although Ah Lian managed to master the illusion technique, she was somewhat distracted and did not look very happy, leaving an excited Tian Luo muttering to herself.  Tian Luo soon realized that she was not getting any response and asked, "Ah Lian, what's wrong with you?"

What's wrong? Ah Lian frowned and looked a little depressed, much worse than when getting lectured by Sir Chong Xi. Yesterday she had met the high god Rong Lin. It should have been a joyous occasion, however her lack of aptitude and understanding seemed to have provoked that high god despite his best efforts to enlighten her; she was disappointed with herself.

Yi Zhang noticed the forlorn Ah Lian and commented, "She just practiced for a few days and merely passed the the test. What is she so proud for?" She was disappointed that Ah Lian did not do anything embarrassing this time.

Yi Gui listened but did not say a word.

For the new disciples of Ninth Heavenly Pavilion Academy, besides the intense schoolwork, there are also various trainings that they have to attend. Ah Lian knew that she needed to be more diligent than the rest of the disciples as her foundation was weal, but unfortunately she did not have the extra time to learn anything else.

Unlike Ah Lian, Tian Luo was at the Ninth Heavenly Pavilion Academy to gain some knowledge and experience, whiling the time away. Although she did not want to be sent packing home, she did not set such high expectations on herself like Ah Lian. Her virtuous mother had always emphasized that a woman only needed to be good at cooking and embroidery, it didn't matter if she were bad at other things.

Pulling Ah Lian to the side, Tian Luo said, "If you don't want to go, just treat it as you are accompanying me instead....."

As Tian Luo was her only friend in the academy,  the kindhearted Ah Lian relented and followed her to the cooking club.

Almost all of the clubs at the academy had high requirements, but this cooking club was the most lax in accepting new members. As there were not many members who ended up joining the coking club each year, there was no competition to see who was more qualified to enter; the only requirement was to pay the enrollment fee.

Tian Luo was just about to pay for Ah Lian's enrollment fee when she was stopped by the latter, "It's ok. I can do it myself."

Ah Lian understood Tian Luo's temperament well; instead of boasting about her wealth, she tended to feel insecure because of her family's newfound affluence. She felt ashamed for inadvertently displaying this to Ah Lian, whom she valued as a genuine friend, a rarity. 

Feeling slighted, Tian Luo expressed, "You're not treating me as an equal friend!" Ah Lian gently disagreed, "No." Tian Luo felt a surge of sadness, "So, you disdain my wealth." Ah Lian remained silent, allowing Tian Luo to pay the club fee, feeling unable to refute.

After joining the cooking club alongside Tian Luo, Ah Lian unexpectedly found herself drawn to the allure of culinary arts. Despite her initial lack of talent in the art of illusion, cooking turned out to be a somewhat rare gift for her. The club boasted six or seven new disciples, a small group that couldn't afford laziness and remained diligent under the watchful eye of their short and stout instructor, Immortal Elder Nan He, known for his irritable disposition. His temper rivaled that of Sir Chong Xu's, and many female disciples bore the brunt of his scoldings. 

Rumors circulated about some withdrawing from the club due to his harshness. Remarkably, Ah Lian never faced his wrath, and even Tian Luo, initially a target of his scolding, found reprieve thanks to Ah Lian's intervention. Under Ah Lian's guidance, Tian Luo improved to the point where Immortal Elder Nan He had no reason to chastise her anymore.

Unveiling Mysteries and Unspoken Bonds: A Review of "Maiden Holmes"

"Maiden Holmes" is a Chinese historical drama that was released in 2020. The drama is also known as "Detective Maiden" or "The Detective Holmes."

The storyline revolves around a young woman named Su Ci, who disguises herself as a man to become a detective and solve crimes. She encounters Prince Qi, and 2 other characters - a swordsman, Xie Beiming, and a doctor, Dong RuShuan. Together they stumble upon a conspiricy and solve mysteries along the way.

Released in 2020, this series takes its audience on a captivating journey through the imperial court, where a brilliant young woman, Su Ci, disguises herself as a man to become a detective.

The storyline of "Maiden Holmes" is a refreshing departure from the conventional historical dramas. Instead of focusing solely on political intrigue and power struggles, the narrative centers around Su Ci's journey as a detective sand her hidden identity nicely unfolds within the 32 episodes. 

Each episode unfolds a new mystery, allowing viewers to immerse themselves in the world of crime-solving with a little bit of romance and humor peppered in-between. The pacing is fairly well-executed, but there were gaps in some areas and characters were killed off too conveniently for the sake of the plot.

There was a bit of inconsistency when Su Ci was introduced as this super detective who was good at martial arts and skills of deduction, only for her to end up more often than not as a damsel in distress when her romance with Prince Qi develops. Prince Qi 's expression was also mostly if not often "wooden" in most episodes. Other than that, the plot and storyline was acceptable and quite entertaining (to me at least).  The supporting cast contributes significantly to the overall appeal, with humorous interactions.

The drama subtly challenges traditional gender roles as Su Ci navigates the imperial court disguised as a man. It adds a layer of complexity to the storyline, exploring themes of identity, societal expectations, and the pursuit of one's passions. This nuanced approach to gender dynamics sets "Maiden Holmes" apart from other dramas in the same genre. 

In conclusion, "Maiden Holmes" is a captivating blend of mystery, romance, and historical intrigue that stands out in the vast landscape of Chinese dramas. The engaging plot, well-rounded characters, and visual splendor make it a must-watch for fans of historical and detective genres alike. Whether you're a seasoned enthusiast or a newcomer to Chinese dramas, "Maiden Holmes" promises an enjoyable and immersive experience that will leave you eagerly anticipating each new revelation.

Quantium Solutions Postal Problems

As technology continues to advance, so does the realm of online shopping and shipping. Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, it appears that everything has accelerated, from the swift delivery of food to the seamless online shopping experience and the rapid distribution of goods. Everything except for Quantium Solutions, they should change their name to Quantium Problems instead. 

Considering the potential of blockchain technology, it's disconcerting that Quantium Solutions, seemingly a part of the SingPost Group, appears to be falling behind in technological advancements. The order from PlayAsia (my very first!) was dispatched on October 4, 2023, and it took 17 days to finally reach its destination in Singapore. However, it took 2 days to reach SingPost and it has been stuck in that status since.... and they are telling me that cannot tell where it is!

Upon emailing the Singapore branch of Quantium Solutions, they replied saying to "Based on the record, the item was shipped out via Quantium Solutions Hong Kong to Singapore. However, we do not have any record in our system. Please reach out to your merchant/sender or the origin shipper,  Quantium Solutions Hong Kong for more details and further assistance."

Really Quantium Solutions? You could tell me where it was shipped out from, but cannot tell me where it is now that it has arrived in it's destination which should be under your purview? 

I've ordered from Bokksu and they deliver from Japan. When the parcel arrives in Singapore, dispatch is done by SingPost, and I usually received it within 2-3 weeks from dispatch. So that works out to be an average of 15 working days, not more than 21 days and counting. Even Amazon Prime shipping from the US to Singapore has arrived faster than this, with frequent status updates. And let's not even take about anything bought from China on Lazada or Shopee, where you are updated on the status constantly.

It's just Hong Kong to Singapore, not Hong Kong to the Netherlands. Plus, the status was updated to have already arrived in destination N days ago with no new updates and when it will be delivered.

But what's worse is that Quantium Solutions Singapore is telling me that they cannot find it in their system as it was sent out by the Hong Kong Branch. Since they are basically the same company just in different locations, where is the blockchain technology or visibility  to check for such deliveries?

I would say it's a red flag when the same entity does not seem to use the same system for something as simple as shipping. The reviews on Google and on the internet for this company also reflects the experience.

How is this company still in existence is a mystery - tracking is bad, customer service is hopeless and their system is not even integrated! Oh and did I mention that Quantium Solutions is a subsidiary of SingPost and yet their tracking system is hopeless.

Thankfully the seller, PlayAsia, has replied me saying that they would proceed with the full refund or reshipment so let's see how that goes. I would have to say that the customer support for PlayAsia has really been good and supportive, unlike Quantium Solutions.
